Kanji Learning: First-year Japanese

This course is designed for students to study Japanese kanji characters at their own pace. Through this course, students will be able to build the ability to communicate with people in writing (email, chats, letters, blogs, etc.) and to interpret passages written in Japanese. Japanese language and culture on topics such as talking about personal information, daily life, family and weather will be covered.

About This Course

Do you struggle with mastering Japanese kanji characters? Do you want to earn at your own pace? Do you feel you need more time for learning kanji characters? This course is developed for students to learn/ go over kanji at their own pace. Through this course, you will learn 174 kanji characters to talk about your personal information, daily life, family, and weather, etc.

Each chapter is divided into two parts, and each section will help you learn how to Recognize Kanji characters, Read Kanji in context, and Write Kanji with correct strokes. You will have opportunities to demonstrate your understanding through quizzes. You will also have the opportunity to practice and apply your Kanji learning through the Kanji in Everyday Life activities at the end of each chapter.

As this is a self-paced course, there are no hard deadlines. Instead, you will personalize and monitor your own schedule to stay on track during the course. Join the course to become familiar with and master 174 kanji characters!!

What you will learn

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Recognize and identify kanji by sight and context.
  • Read kanji characters and interpret messages.
  • Guess/Identify the correct meaning of kanji from context.
  • Write kanji in the correct stroke order, using the correct shapes and line length.
